Thesis statement : (first draft January 18, 2010)
I am interested in doing the project ‘shopping mall’ which consider the activities and behaviors of each gender. This ‘Shopping mall’ will serve the functions of what people need through architectural design, for instance, lady’s shopping, they need to see the overall look( some people have to pose, act, etc.) and also the comments from their friends when they do fitting. It is hard to do that in the small fitting room as we see in the shopping mall now, therefore the new ‘shopping mall’ is going to serve the customers by turning the small fitting room to the fitting hall which has a small catwalk for the customers and seats for their friends, so that they both can have enough space to pose, walk, and see the overall look and get the comments from their friends. Furthermore, this new ‘shopping mall’ is not only considered about the activities and genders about also concerned about the circulation and safety. Thus, I am now doing the primary research by the sources as follow:

1.visiting and observing many types of shopping malls categorized by classes and location
2.doing some interview from various types of people about their shopping
3.interviewing the adults about the trends of shopping at their ages(in the past, where is the famous shopping mall?, where the trends were from?, etc)
4.searching for more information about the history and shopping statistics from the internet
5.library source: the research and analysis about the shopping mall and shopping behavior.
