Site Analysis

For Next Tuesday Feb 15: Site and Program
Site Selection and Documentation
-Context Map
-Site Plan to Scale with dimensions (please use meters instead of rai, 1 rai=1600 sq meters)
-Site Sections (2 minimum)
-Photographs
-Land use/ Program of Surrounding Buildings
-Circulation/Transportation Diagrams
-Relevant Site History

If unsure or considering multiple sites, email me by Saturday for feedback or guidance. From Thursday-Sunday afternoon, my cell phone will be out of service but I will have internet access. Reference reading: Site Analysis book reproduction available in Chula Architecture library.

Program Development:
From research and case studies, generate a list of buildings/site programs.
-Consider the number of people building would serve, mix of users
Assign descriptive terms to spaces and estimate area. Maximum enclosed area: 5000 sq meters. Reference reading: Neufert pdf
-Generate Diagrams incorporating
scale of spaces in relation to each other
connections (physical, visual, entrances and barriers),
users (opposites: male/female or both, categories/gradient: income, age, other categories)

Spell check In Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop
Top Menu Bar- Edit
Check Spelling (about 1/2 way down the list)

command+I (mac)

Canstruction

All four years of INDA will be participating in Canstruction Project, stacking 200,000 cans over three days from February 28-March 2nd 8 am-Midnight at Impact Arena.  More information on student work schedule to follow.  I will also be available for individual desk crits by appointment during the event.

Class Fourteen: March 4 Friday (either morning or afternoon)
Midterm Review:
Students are expected to present their research, site selection and program development.

Class Fifteen+ March 8-April 22
Design Development of Architectural scale design proposal (minimum: must contain a bathroom, maximum 5,000 sq meters of enclosed space). Students are expected to to produce a complete set of final representations for his/her project; for the final presentation, each student shall be required to produce architectural plan, section, and elevation drawings at 1:200 (or at larger scales) + architectural model(s).
